Cancellation of Buses in Winter
When the roads are covered in ice or snow, it's possible the buses will be cancelled. A decision to cancel buses may be system wide, in which case all buses in York Region are cancelled, or specific to an area.
If buses are cancelled in the morning, they will not operate in the aftenoon. Therefore, students transported to school by parents will require the same transportation home.
If you bring a child to school, you must also pick him or her up in the event of an early school closing.
Parents and students are asked to listen to or watch Radio or Television stations after 6 a.m. to determine whether buses will be cancelled. CBC Radio at 99.1 FM and CITY TV are among many that broadcast bus and school cancellations.
After 6:30 a.m. a bus cancellation message will be available at 1-877-330-3001.
The school will of course cancel buses for school excursions if regular busing has been cancelled. Hot lunches will also likely be cancelled.
As always, dress children warmly for school. Younger children may need a change of clothing in their backpacks.
