Call us at 905-884-8086

We want to ensure that your child arrives safely at school each day.

To that end, a student Safe Arrival Programme is in place at Father Henri Nouwen Catholic School.

If your child does not arrive at school, we will be phoning you at home or work -- unless you've called or otherwise notified us first.
Please help us to limit these calls to your home or your workplace, by notifying the school that your child is absent or will be late. This can be done with a note, through a sibling, or by simply by calling the school and speaking with a member of the office staff, or by  leaving a message on the answering machine indicating the reason for the absence.

Home is Best for a Child who is Not Well
Occasionally we receive requests from parents/guardians of students who are recovering from an illness to have them stay indoors  for recess.   Supervision is difficult to guarantee and at the same time students can spread their colds etc. to other students.   If your child is ill, it is best to keep them supervised at home.    This will make them more comfortable and prevent others from becoming ill.   It is important to consult with a doctor if your child’s symptoms are severe or prolonged in any illness.

Please be sure that the office has an up-to-date Emergency Contact Form for your family so that  we can get in touch with you.

When a student is repeatedly absent or late, the student’s name must be forwarded to the York Region Area Attendance Counsellor who will then make contact with the family.
